Speaking of wiper blades - what are best?

A post below reminded me of this question.

Are theyre any that are made with a good, pliable, silicone type rubber?

I usually buy Bosch, but a few times I seen and bought an after market brand that is boldly marked as having higher than normal silicone content (forget the brand - maybe Piaa). These high-Si blades seem to last longer and certainly clean better when the windshield is a bit dirty and it's just misting out. The few times I've seen them, they've been at an indie foreign parts house (the kind of place that sells Mahle filters) vs big name parts place.

I like Bosch as well, but they seem to have stopped selling refills in my area. Has anyone else noticed this where they live?

..most people can't figure out how to replace just the wiper refill, but they manage not to screw up replacing the whole blade.

Just kidding, really.

I live in Michigan, so I try to keep my Julius away from the elements (that includes car washes, too). So if it's raining, I drive something else. I occaisionally get caught in the rain, however, and I have a pair of 15" NOS Anco silver wipers that work just fine.

I'd more than gladly move to the San Francisco Bay area where all of you snotty west coast folks drive your 2002s 365 days a year and think that the "rust belt" begins an inch or two to the east of the state line.

Julius and I would like to be snotty, too! :)

and is switching to another style. For now most places have new style blades with the new style refill.

used on certain VW (old) Beetle models. And you can always use 13" Anco or Trico refills if you're still using the OEM BMW blade holders. 13" BTW should be on 69 and earlier cars only....

Did this and it works great. If you look really close you can tell but its easier than searching for 13" blades.
