Found a perfect Fuel cell from ATL

Here is what my problem is:

I do not want to cut up my trunk floor to add a fuel cell.

No square fuel cell would fit where the actual fuel tank is located because of the 45 degree cut at the rear wheel well.

Room behind the rear bulkhead (between the two shock towers) is limited and would move the weight too high.

And I am on a budget, so no custom bladder for me.

So after months of research, here is what I found: a fuel cell that fits in the spare wheel location. A 12 gallon cell measure 22inch in diameter by 8 inch in thickness. Price is pretty good at $399 msrp.

So, my goal is to remove the actual fuel tank, and make a false tire well in place of the original tank. I will use aluminum. This way I retain my stock spare tire well where I can still put a spare (do not forget that I race what I bring to the track, with 4 tires, huge toolbox, spares box, tent, chairs and more).

Hi, Lee, that looks like a great cell. If you make up a container for it that is .060" aluminium, you will be good to go for CASC/VARAC racing, so I hope you will go this route. Saw you running at Mt Tremblant at the last event in September, BTW. I was there with my Merlyn sports racer, but when I walked by your pit, you weren't there so I couldn't say hello.

Cheers, Brian
