Does anyone know what the underhood temperatures are on a 2002? Wondering what the temps might be for things like valve covers / manifolds etc.,???? Relates to a paint question and the ability (or lack thier of) to stick to these parts and/or last very long.

NO, but painting things like valve covers will raise engine running temps...keeps the heat from dissapating

just use hi-temp engine paints and you'll be fine :)

This is the air temp as probed by one of my sensors. Ther valve cover can be pretty hot, but doesn't require any high temp paint. I use regular spray can paint. It will cure, rendering it a bit thinner with time. But the exhaust manifold can get glowing red. No need to paint it, just sand blast it and it will look good for a while.

My turbo under hood can get damm hot, nothing seems to bake even if some parts are just painted with cheap spray cans.

The header and the turbo itslef is painted with bbq paint. Intake and king pipe is painted with silver spray can and clear-coated. Some discoloration during the time, 2 years exactly.

The pieces I am looking to finish are magnesium and currently done in black chromate--they are supposed to be gold chromate--but of course I can't find anyone who does the gold chromate on mag. So I figure I will have custom paint made that will pretty much match that look.
