Questions about a compression test...

What are good specs for a compression test done

on a 1972 tii?

I found a good one, and I'm waiting for the guy to

call me back and give me the results.

I've made an offer and before I put down a deposit,

I'd like to know.

Thanks.

Corine

about 10% max difference. If they are all 125 is ok, but 110, 115, 110 and 150 no good. Also a leakdown test will tell you even more and better information.

Ok, so what if it's not perfect? What if there's like a

10% difference, but no more than that, would that

be ok? I heard that any more would be a no no.

now would that be part of a pre-purchase

inspection or would I have to ask them to do both

and get charged for both?

part of your investment decision, better to spend 50.00 now than 3k in 6 months. Just bargain, pay half.

real high numbers like 150 are created by carbon buidup on pistons which means that car has had bad oil/gas/driving record. try to split cost of tests. do leak down test0 that shows condition of the engine even better. have a pro do a prepurchase. should cost 100 bucks max. try to split: owner could use results as a "survey' for a different buyer if you dont buy. good luck- sounds like you being real cautious and smart about this. good to hear.call any competent 2002 mechanic in the links and ask what good compression for 72 ti with X miles would be. i say 125 sounds real good. but must be cross the board and no biogger than 10 percent difference as was said.
