[PNW Introductions!] Who are you? Where are you from?

Not too much activity going on in this group, so I thought I'd boost that by starting a PNW introductions forum. I'd certainly like to get lots of cruises (specifically oriented to this group on here), so some basic introductions would come in handy.

Simply list where you're from, a little 'bout yourself & a photo/s of your '02? What are your favorite parts to cruise across the Pacific Northwest?

Thanks for participating!

If you haven't feel free to check out a PNW Classics (PNWC) Facebook group I've started, which could potentially grow into a large group of different mixes & verities of classics cruising the northwest. Feel free to join there, and introduce yourself on there as well.

Either way, hope to hear back from all of you Northwest folks!

Anacortes! Just about an hour and a half north of Seattle. Little Croatian founded fishing town, now a tourist trap. My 76' Fjord square tail is my first car and I've put 3,000 miles on her in the last six months. Loving every bit of it. Other than broken motor mounts...

I am in the Issaquah area and have two 2002's.  I have a 1970 yellow 2002 fuel injected and turbo charged.  I also have a White 1976 2002 with an e 30 S14 engine in it.  Both of the cars are a blast and always out and about on weekends when I get a chance.

I'm in the Kenmore area and currently working on a 74. This is my second '02. The first was a 70 1600-2 and was my daily during my senior year of high school and for a couple of years after that.

Here's a picture from early fall after I finished the suspension work and got the e30 BBS wheels mounted.post-47476-0-02709700-1425153721_thumb.j

The missing trim is now back on the car, the ugly old tint in the quarter windows is gone, and I'm about half way through with swapping the big bumpers for pre-71s using blubeem's brackets. Many mechanical bits that you can't see are also sorted (brakes, exhaust/header,e21 limited slip diff, every bit of rubber in the suspension, etc).

I'm working my way toward a hotrod from what was a very tired, bone stock car that I paid way too much for in hindsight. 70BMW02's turbo car is roughly what I'm shooting for, but it'll probably take a couple years to get there. I was checking it out at Midnight Motorsport the other day. The turbo install looks great and sounds like it's a blast to drive, but apparently eats transmissions. :)

Patrick will be taking care of a few gaskets, a 38/38 and a front subframe swap for me in the next few days, then a 5 speed swap later this spring, then off to the body shop for floors. That ticks off all the critical items on my list for this year.

Up until now, I've been doing all the work myself, but I've hit a wall on motivation so having Patrick finish off the last few things will be nice.

I'm looking forward to driving it over the summer and just enjoying it for a while rather than spending every weekend in the garage. It's still pretty ugly with it's aging cheap respray but it's a much better driver than I started with.

I am in Olalla (North Gig Harbor).  I restored my 02 a few years ago and then started an M20 swap.  Unfortunately the swap has taken a lot longer than planned but I am starting to get some time to finish it.   I currently have the engine mocked up again after deciding to move the engine farther back so I wont have to cut the front.  Hopefully I can make a drive this spring or early summer.  I have a goal to have it finished before Good Guys.

Hello all, I am not new to the Northwest but to this forum. I am located in Tacoma Wa. This is my second 2002 and kinda kicking myself in the ass for buying this one. I love the car but wish i would have held out for a clean title one. Either way its been a fun project and i am enjoying tearing the whole thing down.

71' 2002 base i will update later with some pictures :)

i do have some of my progress on instagram @brownhelmet  hopefully we will all run into each other at some point. If anyone has details on local vintage bmw clubs and information would be great. I am very interested in finding a new car family. I am just leaving the Subaru community so i am kinda lost.

Cheers, Ian

We're not a really big group in the WA area. We get lucky every year or two and have a meet with about 25 people at it. But there's a handful of us around. Usually events are posted here for meets in the SEA area.

I wonder how many of us start our project thinking this? I have days where I feel the same way. I guess uncovering hidden issues is part of the fun. I'm starting to feel like I turned a corner where the needs list is getting shorter than the finished list after six months. Learned a lot along the way too.

I'm definitely interested in seeing more events locally. I was discussing a get together/ drive out on the peninsula with another local member. Lots of low traffic roads out there to enjoy.

I still havent figured out why in the hell I bought my Tii... But that's a whole different story!

Im always down for a drive! Someone just has to put one together and a handful of us will usually show up! Im over here in Ellensburg but as usual I am down to make the trip back over the mountains. Always need to pick up parts or something from my parents! Usually we try to do at least one summer/fall drive a year. I dont think I've missed one since I got the 02!

you gentleman are correct. Dont get me wrong i love the car, but i agree tearing the car apart and returning it to a all around solid car again is exactly why i continue to work on cars. The direction i am  taking my car im sure is frowned on by purist. Oh well thats why its my car. Im sure most of you know who mikey is ?, with the roundie revival. I think i will have the second roundie that will be on air suspension.

If anyone would like to meet up for a unoffcial meet. There is a very cool little park in the tacoma area with enough parking for 50 cars and a covered area where we could have a BBQ and talk about cars for a afternoon. let me know.  I understand eveyone has a different schedule so i will try to set something up during the weekends.

please feel free to call or text me anytime 360-241-1580. I will put something together and post it under the event section. I dont know if there are any 2002 chapters or club presidents in this area so i am just spit balling. I have problem taking the lead on setting something up.

How far along are you with the air suspension? Not really my thing personally but I've always been fascinated it and how it all works. It would be cool to see in person.

I'm still fairly new here but I don't think there's a formal local organization associated with the FAQ. I'm sure anyone willing to take the initiative to put something together is welcome to do so and while I can't speak for everyone else, I'm open to showing up if there's nothing else going on and enough folks speak up to confirm attendance.

Make sure you invite Stu. He brings donuts and coffee to start us off.

I live in Kirkland, work in Seattle...  Love to drive for pleasure, especially on sunny weekends. Would love to be able to join others with 2002's for coffee or.. cruise.

Let me know if anyone is interested. :)
