Question re. rear bumper mounts: What is the difference

..in the measurement of the '72 and earlier rear bumper brackets and those of the '73 cars (that use the loop style of bracket). Interested in modifying the '73 loop style brackets in order to place the rear bumper closer to the body.

the stronger '73 rear brackets can be used on the earlier cars. An easier way is to make a heavy (3/16 or 1/4 inch) steel plate to reinforce the body, cut some inch long pieces of heavy wall 1" grey plastic plumbing pipe and use longer bolts to space the bumper away from the body, sliding the bolts inside the pieces of pipe.

I know Mike doesn't have his bumper ends attached. :)
