The annual meet and drive will be on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 9:00 a.m., at the Don Armeni boat ramp on Alki in West Seattle.  I will bring donuts and coffee.  See you then!

Heater fans are crucial, especially in traffic on a rainy day (my daily commute)!

I'm pretty sure I can make it!  I'll plan on it!

btw, I don't want to hijack the thread, but where does one get a deal on a heater?  I've recently found out that mine does not work. :(

Not sure about a "deal". I ordered the OEM motor with fan for just under $300 from blunt. There's apparently a $100 Porsche motor that works, you just have to reverse the power connections so it spins in the right direction. You also have to carefully move the fan from the old motor to the new. I elected to pay more mostly out of laziness.

I'm looking forward to seeing your car in person as well. Looks so nice in the previous owner's photos!

Talk to Patrick at Midnight Motorsport. He has some rebuilt heater cores. He can either rebuild you a box, or help you rebuild your own.

And, I plan to be there. Fingers crossed for non-crappy weather!

Thanks Chamoin72 - Spoke to Patrick and he said he'd rebuild mine and get it installed for $800.00.  I don't know if that's a deal or not.  I've looked on youtube on how to rebuild these things and frankly it looks to be a bit of a pain in the arse.  I've had Patrick do some work on my 02 before and have been pleased with his work.

...maybe I'll look at my heater box again and see how much work this thing is really going to be.

I'm about half done with the heater box refurb right now. It is a pain, and I wish I had paid Patrick to deal with it. It isn't all that complicated, just not fun.

During the refurb of the box, it's pretty awkward to deal with the box and brittle plastic, and all the control cables. I have a few cracks to seal up that I'm pretty sure I created.

But, I'll have a working heater next weekend, which will be awesome.

If you do decide to do it yourself, I made a wiring harness to bench test the fan off the car battery. Happy to loan it out if you want. It's just alligator clips on one end, spade connectors on the other, and a switch in the middle, but it works.

When you consider the price of new/refurbished parts and the PITA factor of the labor, $800 is not a bad price. I got lucky and bought a recently rebuilt one from him and just had him install it. Unfortunately it came out of a car that got wrecked a few months after it had been installed.
