rubber seal ID

Although it's a little distorted  (and in bad shape) it looks like it could be the rubber that goes side-to-side on the trailing area of the underhood.  If it is, it help form a seal to keep engine odors out of the cabin.  See this diagram (item #16, which is actually 49½" +/- long).  Just a guess.

Hi again, thanks for the replies, I will get some dimensions tomorrowand some more detailed fotos,thanks Bob,I thought maybe it was to do with the engine hood as it is more or less the width of it(unfortunately the diagram didn't come up in your post).

It is slightly curved and the two extremes are different,one end is a much wider flare than the other and it has the sort of opening along its length that self clamps on an edge. on both ends there is a hole that looks as though it should be held by a big  plastic rivet

I am currently putting a 2002 back together for someone and nearing completion and this was in the boot,looking around the car I cannot see where it could go and am now thinking it does not belong to this car but would like to make sure thanks for everyones help
