Hi, I'm new to 2002's, picking one up this week, and was wondering if 16 inch wheels will fit, with a mild drop. Maybe 1 1/4". And what size tire? I think tirerack recommends a 205/45-16. Thanks, any info would be helpful.

Might want to read this thread before considering 16" wheels. I think there was an 02 at Carlisle this year with 16s. Waaay too much wheel IMO, but I think anything more than 185/70-13s are too much for the street. Some of my fondests 02 memories were driving on little ol' 165s. Anyway, do whatever YOU want to do but enjoy your 02!

You can run a set of 195.50.15 on 15 x 7 inch rims. This makes a very nice combination. Going to 16 inch wheels will make the car look pretty weird. And the shell was not built for such thin rubber.

As for offset, get between 25 and 30mm, 27/28mm being best.

I've tried just about all variations of tire/wheel combo.13x5/185-70-13 to 15x8/205/50/15 custom three piece wheels.15x6.5 wheel with about 29 offset and a 195/50/15 tire should do you justice .Good Luck !!!!

Why don't you just go with 17s? Just kidding. I think it looks

completely ridiculous. Tire rack sells some 16s but I'm not a

huge fan of them. Try the link. If it doesn't work you can go

through their website. Personally I think 15s are just right for the

02. Check out panasport 15x6s. They should fit without any

trouble. Trying to fit anything bigger is a pain and will look ricey.

Of course, all this is just opinion. Do what you you think looks

cool.

dewar

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
