side trunk panels

1972-2002

Recommended Posts

Garry, they're made from Masonite--bet someone on the FAQ either has a spare from a parts car (needs to be a late 71, 72 or 73) or can trace the one you need (left or right?) and send you the tracing.  Fifteen minutes to cut out on a bandsaw, another 20 to paint it with grey primer and you're in business.  I'd trace one for you but my car's in winter hibernation and not easily accessible.

cheers

mike

What were the original trunk boards made from? (not the side boards). I wanted to make a set since my car didn't have any when I got it.

side panels were cardboard...trunk boards, thin plywood....

i make them from 5mm cabinet grade ply that i buy at lowe's in 4x8' pieces

Yes! I've taken it out a few times and it runs so much better. No more smog junk, new carb, sounds and rides a lot better. Still need to tweak my cold start idle. The engine wants to die unless I feather the gas to keep the rpm's up. Once warm, it runs like a top. Thanks so much for your help and guidance. Learned a ton doing it myself too (with email support of course ;)
