so i relocated my battery and used a hawker hooked everything up and my engine bay filled with smoke, i cant see any damage anywhere? did i really fuck something up?

until i got the e30 ground cable, i clamped it on to the battery tray and the other end went to the same spot as before next to all the relays

Could it be the +cable from the battery in the trunk is grounded at the starter connection?? Sometimes the lugs at the end of the cable touch the starter housing(-) and fry the cables. Just an idea..

Looks like there was a short to ground somewhere on the big red wire attached to the right end of the power distribution strip. That wire supplies power to the fuse box and ignition switch and was originally on the battery positive cable terminal. Something happened on that wire that is coincidental to the battery relocation.

the same size of the power. The current has to have an equalized path to flow through.

However, the pic appears one of your hot wires came into contact with a ground causing a dead short.
