123 Ignition Distributor....any Info Or Personal Experience?

I’m a little late to the party here but had to wait to source a CCW cam gear.  Installation went pretty well a little more complex due to the adjustable cam gear.  
 

it pulls hard on the initial map but seems to artificially go on rev limit at around 5800 even with the rev limiter set to 8000!   Mechanic suspected perhaps the old ignition coil is not up to the task so I’m going to source a new Bosch Blue.  I may as well throw in a fresh set of plugs and gap them a little wider as suggested in some other threads.  Hope to get it optimised shortly

I’ll get a shot of when I next get in the car.  Seems that it was on the default program as idle advance was on 0deg.  Just put a quick tune in and i was able to write the tune with a 7500rpm limit and all is good.   The tune is called nothing so I’ll get my handle on how this all works.  
 

I’ll have to connect the vaccum advance by Teeing into the brake booster line.  Car feels very sprightly with the settings.  Will get the blue coil as an upgrade also.  I’ll print out some of the tunes that others have done and compare.  Thanks for your help.

I guess the key is to thoroughly read the instructions.  Could only read and write with the ignition on and car running. Seems to work nice now.  Coil is pulling in 3a so I’ll leave it.  Will put a set of plugs and gap them to 40thou and see how they cope.  
 

It’s great having a tool like this.  Almost like a mini standalone computer for ignition.

Who has the ideal tii map for california gas? 

 

I just installed a 123 bluetooth unit and used the generic tii map on the 123 ignition website. 

 

Currently not running MAP but I can tap into vacuum pretty easily if someone with experience recommends it.

Hi Mike,

 

I am running at 1650 feet at home in Switzerland, and I often drive up to 6500-7000 feet and don't feel the need for a re-tune in the mountains.

I had been running 0 deg. advance at low rpms(06.04.20) until this past weekend.  I've run this curve for a while now.  After reading the recent handy article (again) "Ingition 101", I added degrees to my start profile.  It improved my starting and warm-up and low rpm running.

On my next run, I'm planning to add a few degrees advance in the middle of the curve to make it match better the standard curve in the manuals.

I find this spreadsheet handy to keep track of my changes.  You can click on the graph and drag the fields to include (create) more rows and columns.  You can click on the graph and select the funnel shape (filter)  and select fewer curves for clarity.

Hello guys, I’m just done wiring my 123 Bluetooth version and it started! However the default curve of my 123 doesn’t seem to work very well at idle (car stays at 400 to 500 rpm at idle even after reaching operating temperature). I wonder if my M10 being a CCW rotating engine has anything to do with the default curve not working so well? Maybe one of you gurus have a good baseline curve for an engine with similar specs? Here they are: 

Engine rotation: CCW

Weber 45 DCOE side drafts

Schrick 292 cam

Stock pistons

Fully ported head

IE shorty headers

2.5” exhaust.

 

I did use the vacuum ports of my Webers with some tees to a vacuum hose in the distributor. Pictures for reference:
