Hey Guys,

I'm thinking seriosuly about re-doing the interior in my 02. Yes, I know the seats were just done a few months ago, but what can I say? I've decided I want a little more colour in there. Nothing crazy, just a little less beige. I'll reskin the door panels this time, and swap the carpet as well. Maybe even a custom headliner.

What I'm looking for is some input into a nice colour scheme. I'm thing a 2 tone, with beige, and ???? Delia, you out there?

Anyway, if I do this, my current Recaros, and matching, 100% restored back seat(which has NEVER been sat in), will be up for sale, if anyone is interested.

Hmmm, I suppose my interior plan will seem a little plain. I'm going for the painted metal look, I've settled on the same 'Safety Green' paint that I'm applying to the outside. I'm debating whether I'll put the back seat in, and whether I'll have door panels, and even side glass (might put that in for winter). As for seats, I'm going for the 1-piece Summit buckets, and I think I'll even buy the red/black seat covers. No carpet, either, but I might make up some rubber mats for the footwells.

So...have I convinced you to throw it all away and go basic?

do something that would go w/the two tone door panel stuff.

but actually isn't really what you have look fantastic already? from that i can remember i'd think this is more of a testament to good work, than something that's really way out there...

Not sure about what colors to use but a nice touch on the 2000 4 door cars was the fact that they used different textures on the door panels. Jeffrey's turf 2000's grey interior has gray baketweave vinyl material mixed in with the typical smooth (leather grained) vinyl.

Beige & Black?

Maybe add a little wood onto the door panels like the LUX interiors.

Of course you could always add red. There's a car in PDX with factory custom red leather interior. Mike O'hara knows the car. Some day I will have to get pics of it. -j

But I'm regretting not adding some more colour to it, that's all. I would post pics of my current set up, but I don't have anywhere to host them currently. This is the only one that is on the net right now, and this is on a flakey server, so it may not work for long.

Black down the centers and matched his 2000 M Estoril Bluemetalic paint on the sides and back. He got lots of compliments at the '02 O'Fest in CO.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
