my recaro's are higher on one side than the other(because of the bottom of the seats currently)

is this what i need to make the seat level and bolt it to the 02 slide rail.

thanks a ton...w/out anything to look at and trying to figure out what it is you need is worse than flying blind.

i just picked up these 320is recaros to put in there.

it looks like they have the mounting parts to mount on sliders (no sliders on the recaros) but one side of each of the seats is higher.

thanks a TON for the help,

dave

If the 320is seats you have came right out of a 320 in working order, you need to remove the 320 sliders (2 allen bolts each side, I think). Then you bolt on the 2002 slider tracks to the same holes. The 02 slide lever in in the floor of the car.

The 320i interior is setup with one side higher than the other, so the mounts on the seat have to compensate for that when they are installed in the 320i. Usually this is made up with a taller slider mechanism on one side than on the other side. When you remove the 320i sliders, you are left with 2 curved brackets (like the ones in the pictures that you posted above) that are now the same height.

It sounds like you are saying there are currently no sliders on the seats, but that the brakets are higher on one side than on the other side. If that is indeed the case, get some pics so I can see exactly what you have. It could be that the car they were in before had a different setup for some reason.

the seats that i have look like they have more on them than the ones in the pic. my seats have the seat belt lock still there as well as a wire/cable hook up (that looks like it goes to the seat belt lock?)

you guys are the best! thanks a ton for your help on this.

The 2002 seat mounting points on the body are not made to hold you and the seat in an impact, which is why the buckle on the 2002 is mounted to the body, so the 320i buckle is not a good idea in this application.

Are you sure the sliders are not still on there? It sounds like they may be. Take another look at them and you should be able to see that if you remove the slider contraption (it is actually the two sliders, joined across the middle by a bar or cable) you will see that underneath all of that JUNK, it looks just like that picture on the Aardvark website.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
