Here's my center console from the Cabriolet.  It features Volt, Oil Pressure & Oil Temp gauges from eGauges.com, Becker Europa Mono AM/AM Radio with Aux Jack for my iPod on a custom Parker Performance mounting bracket for my shorty console.

Thanks,

What audio system?  OH,  that one..!?

Power for the line level volume control from the rear defrost wire at the back window.   (Amp is 'signal sensing'. Meaning, that it powers up when audio signal is present)

Line level volume control with repurposed 2002 knob in the stock choke location..

6.75" separates in the kicks (1" worth of spacers and massaged metal to get it done), and the 6.5" JL sub and 5 channel amp under the rear seat (not pictured).

Was like this from 78 till about two month ago.

Then with help of Steve (Bluntech) revert back to what I assume was like when released from the factory. Used spare ashtray facia to mount the stereo. Nothing fancy. Just the way Germans intended to be.

  • 2 weeks later...

iphone dock, usb charger hardwired behind the console, headphone to RCA adapter. No radio, but thats okay with me... means no ads.

I chose to ad a clock and found an accessory switch from an e21 (haven't plugged it into anything yet). Theirs an opening for another switch on the right that also hasn't been utilized yet, as well as a cigarette adapter (nice to not have wires strung across the dash)

iphone > equalizer (lights up blue, might consider an upgrade in the future with a different light setup) > 4 channel amp / 2 channel subwoofer amp > 6" front (kick panel) / 6"x9" rear (parcel tray) / two 10" in a sealed box

I love the simplicity of the setup, and the adjustability. It sounds great, and is one reason I love jumping into my car for a drive. I had a single 10" which sounded decent, but the upgrade allowed me to tune it a bit better, and with the ability to do that with the equalizer, it makes each song sound as good as it can without rattling everything.

I also chose to do the roofing silencer in the trunk and I'd consider doing it in the interior when I plan on tackling that.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
