Got the nose section home on Saturday – need to chase down a couple of additional pieces before starting work on fitting a 320 steering rack and column to the ’02 cross member and cowl. If anybody’s got any of the parts below around that they don’t need or plan to throw out, please let me know – I’ll pick up in No. CA, or pay shipping – am also going to try to get to the Bay Area ’02 swap meet @ Double 02 Salvage Sat. Doesn’t matter how ugly/rusty/dirty the parts are - they’re only going to be used for fitting and development.

1. Brake booster / master cylinder mounting bracket (the big black piece that bolts to the firewall – don’t need the booster, m/c or linkage parts, just the bracket).

2. Upper and lower steering column cover (the aluminum pieces that surround the turn signal and dimmer switches and ignition switch – don’t need any of the guts at this point, just the cover) and a horn contact ring (the small plastic piece ring that’s held in place by the upper and lower column covers). One of the critical dimensions is the relationship between the steering wheel hub and the horn contact and turn signal canceling arm – have to make sure the 320 steering shaft will locate the steering wheel properly for the horn and signals to work correctly.

for the brackets and modifications + a parts list.

The other project that the nose clip was acquired for is the in-dash a/c project. Hopefully the same will hold true for that project - photos and patterns for fitting a Vintage Air Gen II Compact heat/air/defrost unit in place of the factory heater box, with 320 a/c vents ducted through the lower dash.

Watch this space for updates........

I have a quick ratio 320 rack waiting for this mod. I really look foward to your updates, especially since there seem to as many ways to do it as people who have tackled it. Your plans are sounding different again!

West in 1998? If so, the owner told me the dash nearly bolted right in to a 2002. I was amazed that it fit so well with little or no modifications to the 320 dash itself. Neat job.

Cheers

Mike
