Does the shifter rebuild also apply to the shifter on the 5

I have a 320i 5 speed on my car form previous owner are all the

same parts from Steve K's wondeful shifter rebuild procedure the

same. Is the process the same? Do I have a 2002 shifter linkage or

a 320i?

An O.D. 5-speed shifter is usually the stock '02 shifter with three parts shortened: shift tower, shift tower brace, and gear selector rod. The shift lever, joints, clips, bushings, mounts, etc are the same as stock.

Bimmer Parts sells kits of the wear parts. One shifter rebuild kit is for the earlier cars, another for the later ones. I don't know when the change occurred. I can't find these kits on their website, but they are in the printed catalog. The kit is cheaper than the individual parts.
