red or blue main bearings?

So the factory book lists 2 bearings for each main journal size: red and blue. Specs in the book are the same except for the tolerance

Ex- Dia of bearing bore in crank case (original in inchs)

+ 0.00039

Red 2.3622

- 0

+ 0.00039

Blue 2.3622

- 0.00079

Does this notation mean that from

2.3622 to 2.36259 = red

2.36259 to 2.36299= blue?

or

2.3622 to 2.36259 = red

2.36259 to 2.36141 = blue

The corresponding measurements for the journal are

-00039

Red 2.1654

-00079

-00079

blue 2.1645

-000114

How to read this?

The from what I've seen shops are offereing in basic undersizes U 0.25 etc. The bearings that I took out are not color coded and neither is my crank. should I just order the appropriate undersize and call it a day?

I just went through this.. Bearings come in red and blue. Only one is available aftermarket (bimmerparts or whatever). These are the standard bearings (0, .25, .5 oversize)

BMW dealers make a .001 oversize bearing (I don't remember the color) This is used for when you have your crank ground my a moron (this applies to whoever did mine) I ended up having to buy the dealer bearings because the plastigauge came out a little too loose. The dealer bearings are much more expensive.

If I were to do it again I would bring the block, bearings, crank in and specify a clearance to the machinist.
