There are at least 3 patches out there for it. Some other things you'll want to try are deleting temp internet files, change it so that it only accepts first party cookies and blocks third party cookies (on the privacy tab in internet options).

And also, if you think it could be a virus, get a virus scanner, there are some free ones out there, not as good as Norton. Here is one that I tried AVG. You may want to try deleting cookies too, since sometimes you can get little nasties that way too.

an illegal operation? Keeps happening many times daily. We've got windows 98 too. Have we got a virus?

Several times, I gotten near the end of typing a message, only to have it wiped out. If you are just surfing, lurking or whatever, you can restart, but if I were bidding on e-bay and lost because of, I'd be really p***ed off. Is this another blame Bill Gates thing?
