Ok. The tii starts just fine with the Pertronix installed and new spark plugs. I have tested and get spark from each wire. The problem is that it runs sluggish and I can remove plugs 1-3 with no difference in engine speed. BUT, if I remove plug #4 the engine dies. What gives??

That's wierd. It sounds like you are running on just one cylinder:#4, but that's almost impossible! Backtrack, what was the last change you made to your car, before this happened. How could your car start fine? Need more info, no clues here.

Gently lossen the fuel line on top of pump, car running.See if fuel is seeping out GENTLY. This car has sat for a while, yes. The pistons inside the injection pump will stick from sitting unused. I removed the suction valves on top of pump and tapped piston to free.Good luck keep us posted.

OK. A little background.... Yes the car has been sitting a while. I have had it about a year sitting in my garage. It ran fine when I started the drive from Alabama to Georgia but half way through the trip it stopped running on the highway and had to be towed home. I have spent the last year working on and off on the fuel tank (refurb with POR-15), removed all of the injectors cleaned and soaked, replaced the fuel filter nest to radiator, cleaned in line filter at the inlet of the pump, replaced "o" rings and crush washers, replaced the pump belt, installed Pertronix unit, replaced spedometer and read a lot of material. I did check the order of my plug wires and I did install them 1432 as directed in the manual. Got the tach working tonight with correct plug wire to the coil. I will check the other ideas tomorrow with the starting fluid and the fuel to the pump. I will let you guys know what I find. ......Wait, do you think my pump timing may be off since I repplaced the belt??

Thanks for all of your responses....

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
