I was driving to visit one of my best friends in Miledgeville, Ga when I stopped to get gas. As I slowed down I looked in my rearview mirror and see a passenger van the next thing I know I'm walking through a parking lot. I was going about 10 MPH and the Van was probably going about 70 MPH. My car spun around into the ditch flipped over, I was knocked unconcious when I was hit so I was stuck in the car. Luckly someone at the gas station grabbed a knife and cut my seat belt and pulled me out, as soon as he got me out of the car the engine caught on fire. The fire was put out very quickly which is good because the gas line that runs through the car broke and the gas take was ruptured. After I got cleaned up and checked over by the EMS I went outside and saw what was left of my car. I bought a camera and took some pictures before I was rushed to the hospital. After waiting in the emergency room for 6 and a half hours I got checked out again and was able to go home. I had a mild concusion and a few cuts and scrapes, not to mention my arms are extreemly brused and I have very bad whiplash. The thing that pisses my off the most is I couldn't find one of my shoes so I was stuck out of town with one shoe. Also my keys were stuck in the door. The only things that I could find were the rearview mirror, the shift knob and the emergency light button. I also saw in the pictures that my tool box from the trunk was about 20 yards away from the car.

the ER doc probably said to do a follow -up cuz of the head knock. now for the less important, but essential stuff: any info on van and driver? insured? etc. If insured and police report indicates total fault by van ( sounds like it), go and get a cat scan of your noggin. The meds will be eventually covered by the cruncher, and you will know if you sustained any hematomas, etc. Get a lawyer on this asap. take care of your medical condition asap. Give the person who cut you out of the straps a nice gift. Glad you're o.k.- plz update as things sort-out. I hate to hear about this stuff.

I'm going tonight to get my neck back and chest checked out because it hurts to take deep breaths. The cat scan was normal, and I can't get the police report till tomorrow. I'm hoping the police report has the name of the guy who cut me out so I cna thank him again. I'm going to talk to my neighbor who was a big time lawyer in Louisiana to get some advice.

Since your 02 gave it's life for you, you need to save another 02. It's only fair.

By the way, I work in a hospital and we usually take one of the patients shoes as a joke! Just kidding.

So glad to hear you are OK. I hope everything works out.

Can't see the pics due to excess bandwidth, but sounds like it was really nasty. It could have been so much worse, though; the car's replaceable -- you aren't! Hang in there through the recovery.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
