dont know how to link all of them, so here is selection: predrive rendez-vous @ Redwood City Safeway: standard.jpg the drive took us through some beautiful Redwood tree-lined twisties, here is Mike B's perfect 1972 Golf tii through my windshield: standard.jpg and here is the group picture at a post office smack dab in the middle of redwood forest standard.jpg, then it was more driving, to another place for the "big group shot" hard to capture on a lousy little digital camera so i chopped it into sections, 14 02s, 1 535e, ( 1 02 not pictured) and a beautiful 4 door E36 M3 that drove with us but did not pose for pic: standard.jpg and the other half: standard.jpg, here is another "action" pic of several 02s on the road- kinda hard to take digital pics in the harness when i am supposed to be paying attention to traffic, bicycle riders, etc., standard.jpg and then another stop for talking, etc:, ...standard.jpg, and here is an shot of BMW's more "outrageous"( aka hip/cool/mod) color choices for 1972:...standard.jpg and finally the ultimate destination: Fenton's Creamery, est. 18sumfin', a nice respite from the 100 degree heat outside....here is Bay Area 02's Godfather J.P enjoying his "lunch" standard.jpg Thanks to Curtis and Lisa and J.P. for the great route and planning.

ah I see the usual suspects plus a few irregulars. I wish I could have been back for the weekend but then I have so many honey-do's that.... oh well. Looks like you'all had a great time and the cars look great as always.

I'd rather see those work in progress - than a car that's all looks and sits in the garage. Bring whatever you have to the show, most 02 owners have been there before and recognize the journey. Whatever you have, drive it and drive it hard, it's fun

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
