I have been rebuilding my engine and I have run into a little snag. I began to measure the pistion ring gaps and found to strange things. The first is that it appears that the bore gets bigger as it goes down. It is only a very small amount of difference but I thought that it was strange that it got bigger as it went down instead of up. Is this normal, and how much difference is ok? The second thing I found is that the gaps on cylinders 2 and 3 are significantly bigger than the other two and than they should be, like .022 and .025 for the commpression rings respectively. When I switch the rings around I get the same results so it is not the ring set themselves, but appears that my middle two cylinders were bored out too much. At this point I really would like to just put this engine back together and have it work ok untill I can replace the whole damn thing. Would putting in a set of total seal rings improve my chances of getting decent compression on all cylinders or am I so far off that I have no chance of things working. If I have no chance then my nexgt question is whether or not I can bore out this block any more. It is already 50 over. I thought I heard talk, long ago, of 91 mm pistons or something that might work but i really have no idea. Any info is apreciated.
