Where To Find Re-Production Floor Mats

Erika W.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have a 1976 BMW 2002  & I've had it for 11 years.  I'm finally getting it re-painted & getting rid of the rust!!  Yay ;)  I have the original floor mats to the car & was wondering if anyone  is re ~ producing them ? I wish I had a picture of floor mats, but since it's being restored I can't take a picture of them. But it says BMW on floor mats. I've looked on line & can't seem to find them anywhere.  I have found some old school Coco mats on Bavarian Autosports  & they look really nice.   Thank you ahead of time for any advice...

+1 for Coco Mats.

Just ordered a set from Blunt yesterday.

They are period correct, and BMW offers them as well IIRC.

Does BMW still offer the grey rubber logo mats that are in the old accessory brochures from when the car was new?

Esty sells nice mats to what ever style you want to. I have some of her front ones. Replace my 35+ year old Cocos with em.

I've been looking for an NOS set of these for years because they've been listed as NLA as long as I can remember. Perfect for the snowy months!

I actually have a set in use--my grandmother got them for my dad shortly after he bought the car new. They've held up pretty well over the past 40 years, although some of the ribs have worn/broken off. They're somewhat cooler in concept than function, however. Particularly odd is the fact that they don't cover the area where your left foot naturally goes left of the pedal cluster. They also have smooth backs with no way to grip the carpet, though they actually don't move around much. And they have faded to a greenish tone that is a bit odd in a Colorado-orange car. Sentimentality aside, I think I would actually prefer cocomats from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint.

All that said, and at the risk of sounding like a jerk, I don't want to part with my set--after all, they've been in the car since new. I guess I just wanted you to know that the currently available options are in many ways superior to the originals.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
