I am helping someone locate a 1972-1973 2002tii.

The car must be something special. It has to be clean.

No "wild" colors (their words).

Sunroof and A/C a plus (I have an AC system...)

If you have or know of someone that has something like this, then please contact me off list.

Give me a break anyone who states that they dont want any wild colors is probably looking for an E36 M3 to match the neighbors M3, or even better Here is a no frills kind of car Get them a FORD FOCUS- they come in white and take no creative passion at all to own. They are great cars for the first 15,000 miles before the emissions system fails

To each his own... I love Golf, Taiga, Ceylon, etc. -- but you can crush every pumpkin colored car out there! By the way, my favorite 02 colors are still Baikal, Atlantikblau, Malaga, Nevada, Riviera, Florida, Schwarz, and Golf. The worst: Agave, Colorado, Turkis, and Inka (that ought to generate some interesting email and postings).

I've owned 30 02s and I have never owned an Colorado/Inka car; I will leave those to you foul-mouthed hooligans.

I know the potential buyer is interested in something "classic" in color.

As for the potential buyer... let's just say that he is VERY INVOLVED with BMWs. He can have any BMW he wants (and probably owns more than you can imagine) and he wants a 2002tii! You have to admit has has good taste.

This lack of computer is probably just as well, since I had several

articles to write and our book on Watkins Glen is in the disastrous

final edit phase. The author, Philippe Defechereux, has provided me with

some information though, that I thought might be of interest. It

concerns why German racing cars were often silver, when the official

German racing color was white.

1934: When the 750kg Grand Prix Formula was instituted, every ounce of

weight was precious. The first Mercedes-Benz W 25 racers were 2 kg (4.4

Ibs.) overweight. Neubauer, already the racing director, took the bet

that no one at that time would challenge the German team if it chose to

not paint its cars, letting the natural aluminum be the color of the

car. To further back his argument, he proclaimed, "White shows stains

too readily, especially the exhaust gas smear of superchargers, which is

not good for the image of the sport." He was right; no o

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
