Im in the process of installing my IE 5-speed short shift kit. As is the linkage hits the shift plate, preventing me from being able to engage first gear or reverse. 

 

2 quick questions regarding the orientation of things.

 

1) the shift rod has a curve at the bottom, should it be curving towards the right or left side of the car?

 

2) which side of the shift rod should be the linkage be attached? 

 

I know I could try moving some things around but I'm out of daylight and I figured this may save me some time tomorrow ^_^
