engine and drivetrain Distributor Housing Leak?

has anyone had the distributor(housing) bolt that has a special copper/o-ring leak .

the bolt in question is right below the o/p sender.

I backed mine out to re terminate a ground wire and now have a oil leak that drips oil onto my header.

can rtv fix this? or do i get a new oringed washer deal?

I always brush on Aviation Form-A-Gasket when assembling an o-ring like that, no seal leaks.  So I'm thinking you can try a gasket sealer and it could do the job.

why out of 5 bolts only 1 has this special copper washer/oring??????

my guess is it needs to clear the o/p casting

any info as to why i would love 2know

the hole that bolt goes into in the head is not a blind hole and there is oil pressure there when the engine is running,  none of the other bolts have that problem.  Use a different bolt to terminate your ground that sealing washer is designed to seal against the head and the bottom of the bolt head,  if you put a ring terminal in there also you have just introduced a leak point between the terminal and either the head or the bolt depending on which side of the washer you put it on.

 I should have atleast used a round terminal to apply equal pressure on said washer/seal,so far i think the rtv is holding strong,hard to tell, the exh wrap is saturated w oil.
