Not mine, no affiliation, etc....

You would think if the seller would ask $15K for the car, they would at least post some pics.

Updated info on this car, Chris76M2 sent me a PM saying that the seller sent him some pics of the title and the car (72 tii in Richmond, VA).  The VIN is 2579254 so obviously this car is not a tii as the Craigslist ad states. I have not seen the car, I can't speak for it one way or another. If this car has a tii motor, that does not make it a tii. I have one thing to say when buying a used car, Caveat Emptor! For more info, send Chris a PM.

Did anyone look at this car?  I am driving through the area on Wed/Thur.  Owner seems unwilling to negotiate below listed price of $13,500 and does not have quality pics.

It appears this car is back on the market again. Based on the comments from when this car sold back in 2014, it looks like it's not really a Tii. would anyone venture to estimate it's true value, given it's not a Tii. the VIN number is 2579254, which I can't identify as a 2002 from any decoders out there. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be great. Thanks, Jeff

The only VIN decoder worth its salt for '02s is the decoder operated by the BMW 2002 Club of Columbia:

So..., VIN 2579254 was manufactured in the April to December 1971 time range. If built before August 1971, it's a late 1971 model; if built after August 1971, it's an early 1972 model. It's a U.S. model, originally equipped with a manual transmission.

Certainly not the current asking price of 16,750. I would venture its "south" of half that for a going hodgepodge of projectdom that will never have the pedigree of the "north of $40k," plasticine restored tii cars . Good luck with purchase.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
