I'm almost ready! The '02 will not be in track condition this season at least not in the beginning.

I gotta get my upper strut mount replaced on my E30 first, though. Anybody got a driveway, a few tools and wants to give a hand replacing it, I will provide plenty of beer and pizza/mexican/chinese food!

season has begun!

first event for me is this weekend.  don't think i saw any o2'ers signed up, but feel free to come out to the track this weekend to watch.  heck, you can come out an work as a corner flagger.  best view of the action your can get, right by the side of the track in a tower.  if you work three events, you get a free entry to take one of the SCCA schools....

five track weekends in the books for me so far in 4 different cars.  come on guys...join the fun!

two 2002's and three 914 race cars at the school this past weekend.  2002's were mine and an ITB class race car.  have to process the video of the session I followed the ITB car around.

2002's get lots of attention.  constant stream of lookers in the paddock all weekend and my right seat was full for 8 sessions. i had to reserve the last session sunday for myself to get some quality track time without scaring a passenger!

Looks like fun!  I think that I would love it.

Do I need a "hot" car, Marshall?

y'all missed a great event at the Shenandoah track last weekend.  low turnout, lots of track time and perfect weather.  i had students with a Cayman and a 997.  dang that 997 made cool noises.  way too many computers controlling the car though.  might not have been a bad thing given the amount of times they kept us out of the weeds..

great event coming up this weekend..the BMWCCA school and club race on the Summit point main course.  come on out and watch!  event is all day saturday and sunday.

there are 117 entries in the school...huge!

and there is a club race group for the racers.

there are three 2002's in the instructor group.

the paddock will be FULL of BMW's. come watch them when they are on track doing what they are supposed to do...drive!  (as opposed to being parked at a fest....;-))

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
