other Four Bar "cage" On Heater Box

I know all the old heater boxes have mice houses but did they all have the "four bar cage" over the top of the blower motor?

Bill - my two early heater boxes (smaller heater core and valve) are different than my 73.  The motor will not interchange between the two top portions and the early box uses a larger protective "cap" for the motor itself.

 

The plastic "grille" of the box top is also different along with the motor securing clips

 

 

The early motor also has (2) spade terminals that are closer together rather than on the outer edges of the motor.

Not sure when BMW (Behr) starting adding these directional vents to the floor outlets. I believe this heater box was removed from a 73 (not 100% sure)

Bill,

For what it's worth my 76 is also a 4 bar unit. I'm guessing the mouse house was deleted with the addition of the thermal reactor.
