2002 Beauty Shots

The car is obviously sorted, so it must work well for him.  I do know of some multi-carb guys that have struggled with turbulent air off the cooling fan causing odd mixtures in the front barrels; especially with filter screens such as on that car....not so much when using bigger sock filters, but sometimes.   I know SteveinNOLA suffered from that at one point with his Coupe.

Pulled fenders?  Wide angle of the 1st shots I figured it was a pig cheek at least in the back.  Love all of it

...I don't need comments on the chrome fender lips... those were installed by the PO and I already get enough static about them :)

No doubt what so ever - it has to be the Cosmics!

Why you may ask?  Well...

1) the Cosmics are actually period correct, which the Turbines are not.
2) the Cosmics are also soooo much more rare, and thus a more individual and stand-out choice.

Ed, Cosmics are a classic, never-lose option.

But... with that color paint, the tinted windows, the big bumpers, un-shaved reflectors, the fogs and, yes, the chrome fender trim, you've really got a late-70s/early-80s, trying-to-look-like-those-new-320s vibe going, and to my eye the turbines actually fit that "theme" better.

Simple solution: Send the Cosmics to me for disposal.

Or put them on your Manila car when you feel like swapping out the Panasports. You could call the Cosmics your "winter" set just to freak people out.

But sending them to me would be the best option.

A couple of glamour shots of the latest race car build (many thanks to Mike (http://www.mikevillavisuals.com), who came over with little notice to shoot as we waited for the transport truck to arrive). With Mike's eye, even the 'guts' photos look artsy.

We'll sure want a shoot like this of the Bristol street* car as it comes together. -KB

wow... that is NICE, Ken.

BTW... thanks all who chimed in on the Turbines v. Cosmics pics.  With the Cosmics and new tires on the car, I'll repaint the Turbines and make a decision.  I got lots of comments that agree with Dave's exact comments "  with that color paint, the tinted windows, the big bumpers, un-shaved reflectors, the fogs and, yes, the chrome fender trim, you've really got a late-70s/early-80s, trying-to-look-like-those-new-320s vibe going, and to my eye the turbines actually fit that "theme" better. I will say that the Cosmics fit under the fenders better... but I'm leaning towards the Turbines for the "look"

We'll see...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
