I just purchases 2002 last night.

 

Is there a way to adjust the speedometer? When I am on the freeway doing 70 mph the speedometer says I am doing 90 mph. The tires on the car are 185/60/13. The car has a 4spd manual.

No. You need to verify you have the correct speedo for the differential that is in your car.

There may be a problem with the speedo drive on the back of the speedo, or the speedo cable needs lubrication.

You can send you speedo to North Hollywood Speedo or Palo Alto Speedo for repair.

not adjustable.  send to northhollywoodspeedometer for repair.  they have a calibration sheet on their web site you fill out before sending in.

The OE tires on your car were approx. 24" in diameter.  Your current tires have an approx dia. of 21.74".  That's a significant difference to your speedo reading - it'll indicate you're going considerably faster than you actually are.  I had a similiar problem and, as suggested above, sent my speedo into North Hollywood for cleaning, checking of all parts, and re-calibration.  Excellent service, quick turn-around, and now my speedo is spot-on.
