Well,

I don´t know if that is the correct term normally used in english-speaking countries for that earlier type of flares. At least it is the direct translation of the german Fledermausohren [fdɐmaʊ̯ʦʀŋ̩] and that´s how they are nicknamed over here.

Pig cheeks directly translates Schweinebacken [ʃvaɪ̯nəbak] in german which is likewise the correct term used for these flares in german language.

Best regards, Lars..

post-38814-0-23471400-1386652377_thumb.jI'll donate one of mine to your thread.....The image really isn't mine in the sense that I didn't take it (obviously), but AlpinA did send it to me when I was discussing my car with them.  My favorite for many reasons, the least being that it is airborne running at Nurburgring......

Flares that I did on my car this summer, No added material, no welding; just cold formed. Mark

I have all of them on my blog, somewhat redundant to add here as well (and I have had zero time to even update my blog as of late, blog burn out - lotsa work to keep on of them up).

The tires are massive (11x15 front and 13x15 rear.   Since the Dunlop racing rubber they used then is NLA (and nothing else is close), I had to scale back to 9.5x15 front and 11x15 rear (Avon Racying slicks).  This particular car was 280 hp, AlpinA bottom end with a Schnitzer 4 valve head and slide injection (dry sump).  The BmW Gr. 2 cars of this era all ran 4 valve heads (either Schnitzer heads on an M10 block or M12/7's - most were Schnitzer since the M12/7 was really hard to adapt to a 2oo2 AND expensive, even back then). 8v heads even with slide injection just couldn't compete.....

Wont be redundant at all..just throw one in every now and then...
