What Would You Trade For Your 2002?

I'm surprised no one mentioned an E30 318is...I always liked 'em and finally bought a pretty nice, unmolested one a couple of years ago...it really is a modernized 2002 and that M42 motor just revs and revs...feels totally different from a six cylinder E30.

But since I already have one in addition to my 2002s...I really can't think of anything (of comparable value) that I would trade an '02 for...

I was on the fence about getting a 318is vs the 2002 that I got when I got my 2002 earlier in the year. I've wanted to get a 2002 for the last 5 years, so when the opportunity came I had to go with my heart and get it. A 318is would still be nice...

I'd trade for an E30 318 convertible, kinda like this one in my driveway. Functional A/C, ABS, 4 wheel discs, twin cam 4 cylinder with modern injection and ignition, 5 speed, LSD and a convertible top. Plus that Roundel on the hood and very good parts availability from BMW and the aftermarket.

Andrew, the Datsun 1600 would only be worth it if it came with the redhead and the saddle. :^)

I almost traded for a '92 Golf with a VR6 swap, coilovers... ect. But he didn't think that the 2002 was worth what his car was worth   its a golf and you weren't the one that did the swap. I don't get people sometimes, but im glad i didn't lose my baby. The golf would have been fun though!

Lol!

Think you dodged a bullet on that one though Beemer, a '92 Golf, yikes.  I would say it falls into the latter of these two categories found on the best license plate frame I've ever seen (at The Vintage this year).  Figured I'd post since it's pretty pertinent to this thread:

Haha. Maybe, but i really miss my GTI I had and I always wanted to put a VR in it. But nothing compares to driving the 2002. Sure as hell handles better in the snow than my GTI did (spun the GTI on the freeway, got control before I hit the wall but some lady behind me spun hit the wall and then took me out).

I believe Keith at my2002tii.com used to offer those frames for sale.

Cheers,

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
