other Fuel Sender Unit Sleeve

Hi All, I'm having problems with a fuel leak.  Gas is leak around the fuel sender unit's outlet.  I am missing the sleeve that would normally go around the metal outlet and into the rubber hose.  I'm pretty sure this is the problem.  Can anyone tell me a good repair for this without having to buy a new one online and paying double for shipping?

 

I read the c.d.iesel's post about putting an 8x13 hose around the metal outlet.  http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/144143-cracked-fuel-sender-sleeve/?hl=fuel+sender+sleeve#entry941430. Has anyone tried this, or can tell me that this will definitely stop gas from seeping back from the hose?  Also if i do this option, will this hose also go directly to the hard plastic fuel line? How would I seal this hose to the hard line? My intermittent cloth rubber hose that previously connected the metal outlet to the hard plastic line isn't a good seal right now.

every 2002 needs new parts....you must need more than just the sleeve.  get a couple of parts from BLUNT at the same time and the shipping gets to be worth it.  i always keep a "need these parts" list and place orders when i need a few things.

Might try listing what you need on the PARTS WANTED section on this site and see what turns up.  I got a whole excellent condition fuel sender unit for my car this way not too long ago.

Even using a smaller hose on outlet means buying an adapter to get back up to 8mm. I'd bite the bullet and buy the sleeve.
