Thanks Rey, couldn't have done it without you. :)

Here are a couple pics taken at the SoCalVintage event Saturday. I saw three other NKs, an 1800, 2000 and 2000Tilux I think.

Includes Mike Pelly's Tii and Tom Rakestraw's Italian delivery CSL, both beauties. Ben Miller's Golf CSL was the overall People's Choice winner.

I know I'M re-inspired after this past weekend....I started shopping parts for the tilux motor build as soon as I got back home from SoCal last night.

Great to see everyone's beautiful cars and thanks again, Rey, for showing Mae and I such a great time.  We are so lucky.

Gotta get to work now!

Congratulations!   Us East Coasters will have to visit during a future show.

Jim, maybe next year. I'll stop by your place on my way so we can drive together.

Promise?  Guess I'll have to look for a 6 speed tranny and auxiliary fuel tank prior to the trip.

Maybe we can draft together...

post-32278-0-76856400-1382586610_thumb.jChris & Rey -  Old Fink Built would be proud.  That was my 3rd time to the So Cal Vintage show. At least I drove my trusty ( almost. well Never ) done 2002.  I figured I put on around 1000 miles round trip. Hopefully next year the TiLux will be ready for the long haul down south. I took some pictures of the other NKs. A nice guy Roy who owned the early original manila 1800, he owns one or 2 others.. The Sahara NK was a 2002 AD car. We caravanned down with Daniel ( Mojo Joy )   Good seeing all you guys. Thanks to John Barlow and crew for a really great event and letting us stay at his amazing house Saturday night.

Chris-thanks for doing us all proud. I have always felt that the rectangular headlamped iteration of the NK was the correct evolution and best looking. The Atlantik blau makes the NK boxiness classier somehow -and the FPS wheels give a little Italianate (mmm, think Sofia Loren in her prime) needed pizazz  to a ubercapable looking machine.  Could you share  a few interior pics as well- I think you have the same late dash as Uncle Barry's 2000.   sincerely, Peter

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
