Full Bat Treatment On '02?

Marsattacks

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever seen/done/attempted a full baby-bat treatment on an '02? The roof spoiler in the for sale section makes me wonder. I mean full nose, windsplits, roof and wing along with flare. I would not do it but it would look cool in the right color and stance. Any photos would be appreciated!

Also interested in this, as we're considering going this route with our #2 Lemons car this winter.

For inspiration, we've also been looking at the Alexander Calder 3.0 CSL Bmw-Art-Car-1975-3.0-CSL-by-A-Calder-lg.and the Roy Lichtenstein 320

I love the Gruppe 5 and batmobile setups and have been thinking about doing this for a long time. But to make the car worthy of the aerodynamics I'd want about 650 HP, huge tires and full DTM or GT3 suspension. In that case might as well do a full tube frame build to support that power level with a lot of custom stuff. Ultimate would include carbon fiber body and ground effects floor pan. Now we about talking cubic dollars, several years, and lots of tuning and sorting. And it would be so unique there would likely be no class to run it in. But hey, at least I can dream. Would love to have links to people doing Gruppe 5 and similar builds.

I've considered the Ahrend Tuning Gruppe 5 body kit, but haven't priced it and know that shipping to the US would be expensive.

of course, for proper LEMONS event, the entire body kit would have to be done with cardboard and paper mache..... :D

Maybe rivet some sheet metal together with bondo for shape although it would probably be knocked off by the fifth lap. Plus you would have to bribe Judge Phill with a couple of six packs to get it through.

You are better to use the expanding foam filler in a can, spray it on, let it expand and dry, then trim with your favorite knife/power tool.

Its very east to work with and is light as. Plus it sticks like s@#t to a blanket, so it will last more than 2 laps :)

Also a very easy way to build custom speaker mounts.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
