Once again, SoCal Vintage BMW Meet will have "The Best Restoration Candidate" award on October 19th at Van Nuys.  And this year it will come with a Free Year of FAQ Use and a BMW2002FAQ Hotwheels Car

Who will take it home this year? Will it be SoCal or NorCal car? Or may be someone from out of state.

It is time for you to show what you got?  Or if you have someone you think should win, post the photos and info. The car has to be present at the show to win.

is this only for 2002 or all vintage-bmw that 700 was unreal

the 700 won Best Original, Best Early Model, Bimmer Magazine's Choice Award & Best of Meet, so not sure if that really qualifies for a "Best Restoration Candidate"

But the award is open to all cars at the show. So bring yours out.

Ok, this thread is useless without pictures. I know my car is on a different path, but some of you guys have just normal road cars that are not pampered garage queens that deserve this trophy.

Steve, I finished this ground up restoration in June, Just in time for Bimmerfest. Way too much fun to keep in the garage. See you on the 19th.

That car would have been a great candidate for the award prior to restoration. Now it can probably win some other ones. So we need more cars like it was at the show. Bring what you got, this is not a "spit'n shine" show.  It's a gathering of friends surrounded by cars.

Finally an award I might get prior to the resto being done!  Been to embarrassed to have it on the green in previous years.

early '71 Sahara, daily driver, original paint, only rust is in rear tire well.  Needs some love which has been slow in coming.  Hopefully bonus points will be possible with the KGB Racing sticker.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
