Slot Car Race In South Bay?

Stuart

Recommended Posts

Is any one in the SF Bay Area group interested in a get together in the South Bay for a slot car race?  A good friend of mine owns the Shaunadega Raceway: http://shaunadega.com/ and he would be more than happy to host a race for 02 owners.

We need 8 owners to have a race.  Shaun and I would provide the cars and controllers.  It's great fun and competition as well as a chance to be a kid for a few hours.  I know that many of you owned either HO or 1/32nd scale slots as kids.

Let me know.

This would be an interesting South Bay gathering; people who want to participate can reply here.  Stuart, do you have any preferred dates and times?  Responders can indicate their available dates and we can do a Doodle if the date is not obvious.

So I spoke with my friend that owns the Shaunadega Raceway : http://shaunadega.com/ and got some dates that would work.  If we want to do this before the Holiday madness kicks in he says Saturday Oct. 26th or Saturday Nov. 9th.  We could do either morning or afternoon.

If you are interested please respond back with what day works for you and if morning or afternoon would be better.  We need at least 9 drivers and feel free to bring children or your spouse.  Depending on the time of day I could work out pizza and some drinks.

I will provide the cars and controllers.  All you need to do is show up and race.  The track is located close to Bernal and 85 in the South Bay.  Please call or email me with questions.

So lots of views but only a couple with interest so I think we shelf the club race idea for now.

For the 2 of you that expressed interest, there is a race this Saturday night at the track I want to have the 02 club race on, The Shaunadega Raceway. http://shaunadega.com/

If either of you want to come please let me know and I will have cars and controllers ready to go for you.  The track opens at 7pm and qualifying starts at 8pm.

I hope you can make it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
