wheel spacers, good or evil?

I am putting turbo flares on my '74 '02, I already have 14" a/c schnitzer type I's with 195/50's. I've heard that wheel spacers are generally a bad investment and while I want the wheels to look right, I don't wan't to be replacing bearings constantly. Any thoughts? any Sources? Thanks.

car has had them forever. has been track schooled like nuts, gone really high speed roiad course and auto x and no failure of bearings, etc. from spacers. that is just my experience. i know some guys dont like them and they have valid concerns. but sometimes it is just impossible to find the perfect offset in the wheel you want to run.

if you get the rims in the right place. If you use the spacers to stick the wheels out of the fenders, then sure, you'll have problems. But if the wheel's cozy up against the strut, you'll be just fine. It's a great way to reuse VW and other types of wheels...
