anyone know about DOHC head swap for 02s ??

just wondering if its possible, worth it, what id need, etc... any help would be appreciated i heard something about being able to put the DOHC head on from a certain year and it works???

Uhh if you're really serious about this go buy yourself some really good stuff (ie single malt) and brace yourself since it's going to be very hard.

Unless you're blessed with a Gates sized inheritance and can buy one of the schnitzer or alpina 16 valve heads for the M10...used in formula 2 and the like (I believe called the M12, Mark care to comment??), you are looking at using an S14 head.

Now that is NOT the nissan s14 favored by rice racers worldwide...that would be the BMW s14 head used in the e30 m3 (1988-1991 in the US, 1987-1991 worldwide) and perhaps one of the winningest touring car motors of all time.

The only problem here is that the oil drainbacks from the head to the block don't match and there are some other problems associated with running the chaindrive to the dohc's. That is to say it hasn't ever been done there are some drag BMW 2002's in europe running such a setup abet turboed and nitroused as well (1000+ hp). It's just gonna take some fab work and time and money.

BTW, the heads aren't cheap...I should have picked up an s14 engine with a blown block for 1k from a racing buddy but I hesistated and lost the deal. Oh well like I need more engines in my garage anyways. The swap isn't popular since most people do the whole S14 to 2002 swap like coop and nick in the UK. The only reason to stay with the M10 block is supposedly it holds up better under extreme boost.

Some of my friends want to an opposite frankenstein. Use the s14 block and an 18i 8v head and make a huge overbored M10 motor. Just because you can overbore the s14 to larger bore diameters than the m10. Weird but some people have done it as well.

thanks, but now i know i don't have that sized budget :( . Oh well, back to the drawing board. Any other good ideas for some power out of the orginal engine, maybe besides turbo?
