What are all you fellow M20 nutcases doing for radiators? I was thinking a custom aluminum one but the budget doesn't allow that, anyone have any info on that and on which electric fans are good. TIA!

as i did...I went with a VW Scirocco rad. its super wide and super short. Cost me $110CDN, brand new, and available virtually anywhere. Good thing about this is that if you get it to fit, you can always upgrade later, because dragsters love the Scirocco sized rad. Look in Summit or Jegs and they always have aluminum something something special kick-ass blah blah 'Scirocco' rads. I *think* that InstructerBill used a Scirocco rad as well.

I had the car on the track this weekend in hot temps, and the coolant temp stayed super cool. Having said that, it does NOT stay cool in traffic...I haven't put on a rad fan yet (lazy). I think I have some air in there though too...

I beat the hell out of the car this weekend and never saw the temps raise above half scale. This is a good one-- I think.

I used a combination of 325i hoses, 2002 hoses and another one that I got from napa autoparts (number slips me-- I can get it if you need it)

Since the diameter of the hoses are slightly different, small couplings must be made-- simple really.

I bought a fan switch that screws directly into the scirrocco rad but I have not wired the relay yet so for now I remove the fuse when I don't want it to run (insert "Sanford and Son" theme here)

I am using a perma-cool fan. Works great- should last long time.

A full write-up is in the works, but I don't have the tech know-how to put it into script. Anybody who wants it should contact me directly.

I am also going with the Scirocco radiator. Should have the core brace/rad mount fabricated this weekend. Still about a month away from cranking her over as many other projects are still to come, ie roll cage, paint, etc.. etc..

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
