You know the one...the one that goes between (and up to) the taillights on a roundie, like 3 or so feet long, sorta 'on top'of the license plate...are these still available new? The PO took it off and filled the holes..I was gonna put it back on today but it someone got bent up over the last 3 years of moving around. So yeah, can you get them new? how much $$?

i'm too lazy to call a vendor right now.. :)

thx

Matt

Mark left me a message on my phone yesterday, about noon or so, I figured it's "Hey Tim, I have the new throwout bearing in and she's all ready"..well, his niece backed into the 2000 at his mom's place( that's where he's done all the work on the car) Saturday evening and it sounds like it's only bumper end/vertical guard damage. Mark, feels like sh**, believe me, I called him back after hearing his message and we talked for a bit. He asked me to e-mail him Carl Nelson's phone number and he would take care of everything. Now, the bumpers on this car are sweet! no rust anywhere, I don't think Carl will charge too much for really nice used pieces and I know he has them, I talked to him last winter when I was asking him about a nice rear center section, that section had a small dent in the middle to begin with. He said he had a nice center section for $100.00; from what Mark told me, his niece backed into the front bumper ( the car was in his mom's driveway, probably ready for me to pick up or he was going to possibly put the throwout bearing in the car while it was parked in the driveway) and hit the vertical guard and bumper end, don't remember if he said she hit the driver or passenger side. It doesn't sound like there is any fender, nose/sheet metal damage, but he said I may want to come out and take a look. I think Carl Nelson is probably the most logical choice for the bumper parts, he has them, it will take a bit longer to get because he's in California but that's ok, just that Mark had a hunch the wrong throwout bearing was in the car, he ordered the right one, probably put in over the weekend and then this little dinger with his niece happens. So, I'll just hang loose and wait to hear from Mark this week.

Tim.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
