Why yes it was Jim, and the # 995184 one I work on in Sacramento CA. It took a few weekends of cleaning and sorting to get it ready for the Monterey Car Week. Thank You Neil for those window crank handles! I finally got them polished up and installed. Steve Walker's awesomely restored #995193 was also there, though in a different group. In the late afternoon I got both cars together for a mini shoot. I'll post links to many more, but here's most of my pictures from the amazing Quail event...

Having trouble getting album links through my phone... Switching to desktop... :)

OK, here's my album. The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering 2013. The detail shots are all of Steve Walker's #193

Thanks Tom.  Do you ever have issues with Pbucket (on desktop)?  I am frustrated with it and only at 38% capacity....

Yes, somtimes I have a hard time with it, like finding some organizational tools and such, but ALL my linked pictures out there in the web are through my P-bucket account, so I fear changing it.

Explaining what these tall gangly BMW sedans are to the unknowning (even many normally well versed car people have a hard time with figuring out what an 1800Ti/SA is, let alone what a Neue Klasse is) is part of the fun of taking them to events like this. When they are walking by and stop to have a look inside or under the hood, we (Pat, Steve, Steve's wife and I) ask if they understand what they're looking at and if they have any questions. They usually ask what year it is and then we have em'.... I find the easiest way to start off is to ask them if they know what a Lotus Cortina is. If they know that, then it's SO much easier explaining what a TiSA is. If not, then I ask if they know BMW 2002, or M3, or.... Once they get the one of 200 Homologation racing specials that raced against the likes of LoCort's, Alfa Gulia Ti Supers, and even Porsche 911S's, they begin to understand that this is no ordinary BMW sedan and has as much right being there as any other car there. Sometimes I can get as far as explaining that a 2-Liter version of one of these was the first sedan to break the 10 minute barrier at Nurburgring at the hands of Hubert Hahne. The best are the ones that walk up with their jaws on the ground asking if it's a real TiSA. Those make our day!

Beautiful car for sure.  IMO a TisA is as pure a BmW racing machine that there is, every bit as much as a werks CSL or 32o (maybe moreso).   Not nitpicking, but wondering why the non original AlpinA horn button and wheels when everything else is so "correct" ....just askin.

The horn button is mine. I lent it to her in place of the ///M one she had there, and as I understand it the wheels were given to her long ago by a friend at BMW. The Alpina wheels suit the car much more than the E30 steel ones she had on it. I don't believe Pat had a set of TiSA wheels with her car, and didn't know at the time what was correct. That's where I come in, and there is much to do... ;)

Nothing against the Minilite/Revolution/Ronal/ATS/BBS RA alloy wheels that the historic racers in Europe run on their NKs; because I'll likely use some like that on Dad's TiSA when we go racing with it, but these steel Alpina ones are certainly more period correct than them. :)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
