Just taken a breath from moving to Vancouver, from Atlanta. Parallel parked the 02 at 11am or so - careful to choose a 'safe' dingless spot. Returned at 3PM or so to find the scene below.

Its a mess. Front axle also is buckled. No note. And i am in the funny position of still having the Georgia plates on it. Progressive have been notified, as have the local police. Local ICBC insurance cannot really do too much as i dont have their plates yet.

Found part of a chrysler emblem in the remnants of the trunk. Left notes at the homes nearby hoping for something, anything.

I must have peed off the man upstairs or something. I jumped thro hoops and spent cash i dont have to get the car up here, and now this....

the impact area, sort of above the rear bumper, **uck i really feel for ya, I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me. I wondered if someone forgot to set their parking brake? kinda of a slow motion crash? someone saw something I hope and comes forward. May be worth it to go back and canvas the neighborhood. VERY BAD KARMA for that person if they do not take responsibility for their actions. It is really chicken **it to not just face the music, accept responsibility and fix what you have wronged. go see Al and rest of the BC guys, good resources for local help. and call down here in Seattle also.

with any front end damage.

I am guessing this happened near your home... It could well have been a "regular" (neighbor, works there) who is probably now parking a few blocks away. Hmmm... What Chrysler products have high bumpers? Durango, RAM, PT Loser, Caravan? Maybe that name badge you found is specific to a certain model/year - any part numbers on it? (Anyone here have access to a Chrysler parts database?)

If I can help in any way, let me know. I'm not **that** far away.

regards,

Zenon

You might also try checking body shops in the area. The Chrysler probably fared a lot better than your 2002, but it wouldn't be unscathed.

Good luck man.

I could still smell the paint off-gassing in the sun. It was that fresh. Two weeks.

Then the hit and run-- a chase into the area's worst neighborhood, a cell phone call to the police, a quick dispatcher, a few police cars, one arrest (not me) a police report... months later-- a police report leads to an insurance settlement. Insurance settlment leads to M20 conversion.

Now I have a pretty nice car that goes fast but has some collision damage to the core support.

Nice trade really. It is truly sad though that you didn't see it happen and that nobody else did either.

Sorry man.

Bill

People get scared that even dent in the fender is going to be a fortune to repair and run instead.

I am sooo sorry that you have to go through that.

Moving itself is such a pain.

Keep on it though, you allready know the make and I sure you can tell what color it is from paint fragments.

There was a hit and run right down the street from me.

The victim was about to give up until a dog walker informed him that he saw the car that was responisble.

Hang in there!

I understand what your going through. I was hit at a stoplight in my TR6 by some one who managed to keep going after. They hit so hard they bent the frame, cracked the rear end as well as pushed the taillights forward about two feet. It makes you want to lock up the car and never drive it. But where's the fun in that? Good luck catching them I don't see how they could have gotten very far (the car that hit me was found close by). At least you are alright, that's the most important thing although it sucks having to deal with a**holes that do this type of thing. Keep your chin up.

That infuriates me. I got rear-ended and the driver

ran off too. The driver that hit your car will get what's

coming to them. Keep your spirits up.

wish could help. Get a parts list together and we will pull together to get it back in shape. That sucks! God, i hate to see that. Paranoid as hell to park my cars.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
