So I bought some billie HD's, and some 13x5.5 rims, just wanted to know if anyone has some pics of :

Billie HD's with 13" wheels, stock height

Billie HD's lowered (show what you got as far as drop goes 1" , 1.5", 2" etc)

let me know what springs your running as well, and if they are cut.

my main inquiry is to see how low people are running with Billie HD's & 13rims, and how it looks stock with this particular combo.

thank you in advance everyone !

My car has Bilstein HD's, IE stage 1 springs. These pics are with the 13 x 5.5 turbines.

I thought the sports were smaller than the HD's.

Stu, how many inches are the IE stage 1 springs lowered ? Also, are yours uncut ?

Lowering inches are relative, be very open minded when you read published drop measurements.  These measurements are taken using BMW published factory specs when the cars were new.  Now plenty of cars are running 40 year old saggy springs.  I've actually had people who's car was raised with a new set of "lowering" springs because of how shot the original springs were.

Not only that but there are other variables to consider.

-Rear spring pad size.

-Front DOT spacer removed or kept on.

-production run of spring (for example the last batch of IE stg 1 and 2 springs have been shortened slightly when compared to older batches)

and lastly, the measurement for ride height should be taken from the rocker adjacent to the wheel well and not from the top of the wheel well arc and the tire.

When did you shorten your springs? I got my stage 1's in the fall/winter

FYI, the stock BMW springs used on 68-72 US spec cars cause the car to ride about an inch lower than the stock springs used from 73-76.  Reason?  Federal bumper height requirements that began with the 73 model year.  BMW met the height requirements by using a taller spring, and the 2.5 mph bumper requirements (73 only) with stronger brackets.  The 5 mph requirement (74 on) were met with the big aluminum bumpers and shock absorbers.  Thus a cheap way to lower a 73-76 car is to use stock springs from an earlier one--saves cutting coils.

I'm currently running H&R springs (lowered my '73 about 1.5" from the stock tall springs, after removing the aluminum spacers) and Bilstein HDs, along with stock 5jx13 factory alloys.  Does help the handling, especially when paired with larger sway bars.

cheers

I believe the stage 1 springs lower the car about 1 inch.  They are uncut; and I kept the aluminum spacer in the front.  I like a level ride.  The front is still a bit lower than the rear, with the spacer

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
