Ipad Center Console

Since my 74 is far from original I wanted it to have some modern touches. I decided to mount an ipad mini instead of a radio/cd player.

If anyone is interested the mount is from

The audio will go to a jl audio CL-RLC for volume control and then either to some massive audio nano amps or some mcintosh amps I have that are collecting dust...

The only thing I haven't figured out is where to mount the hazzard switch.

That's nice looking. Over on a Landcruiser forum I frequent a guy just did the same thing.....also turned out nice. Maybe not for everyone but for those not worried about staying original, cool option vs a standard radio/cd. I'd love that but seeing as how I don't have a mini then I'll be installing my Alpine. Good job and thanks for sharing.

Any way to easially pop the ipad out to keep your car from being broken into and your center dash torn apart to steal it?

Really cool mod, i've been thinking about something like this for awhile.

Yes, the mini pops out. The plate is designed with a spring loaded locking mechanism. Push the bottom end if the ipad in and it comes out about 1/3 of an inch, push again an it locks in flush.

Looks really good. As far as the hazard switch goes, you could use an early one and mount it in the little change cup on the left side of the dash, by the door.

I am thinking of mounting my nexus 7 in the dash for use as a digital gauge system...

I think I am going to try to fabricate a console.  It will be trial and error.  I just bought a flatbed cutter that is being built now so my wheels are turning.  It cuts wood, metal, plastic...

Door panels, trunk panels, console??? Just need to make a cut file or die line....

Here is the video for the cutter.

What would you do for gauges? I was going to do Tue same with a nexus 7 and the torque app on my b5 s4, but that's an odbii, curious what you can do on an old car, cause I'd love to put it in my 76

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
