Is It Christmas?

Recommended Posts

the last weekend of August is my third BMW HPD weekend, hopefully the first with the Tii.

Today is a good day because at the post office is the following... I can't wait to get it tomorrow over my lunch break.

- IE tii strut bar and fixed camber plates.

- Esty carpets

- e30 6x14 bottlecaps (used)

- At my door today was a new set of 195/60/14 falken 615k's for the bottlecaps.

- In town I have a set of 185/60/13 R888's to get. (got at cost as they damaged one of my coker xas)

- just bought a set of used 13x6 et33 VW alloys for the R888's. Shipping today from Canada.

- just ordered some 4.5mm wheel spacers, just in case.

- just ordered potterfield R4-S front pads and rear brake shoes. Crossing my fingers customs does not hold them up.

- various odds and ends from blunt already arrived quickly and without fuss as usual. God bless Blunt.

- BMW has my new passengers side seat belt in... but oddly we are waiting for the driver side (makes no sense as both ordered at the same time). Without this, no track w/e in the tii.

Anyway, here is to hoping that all the stars align and I get to take the Tii to the track at the end of the month.

Don't fret too much.  It's all about having fun!  Once you get your car out onto the track and start learning a "line", you will really enjoy it.

No frills, no electronic doo-dads. Just you and your car.

When's the last time you flushed your brake fluid??   Own a "legal" helmet?  Some HPDE/PDX events will not let you wear short pants...

This will be my 3rd track w/e with bmw, and i also spent a day getting my lapping license outside bmw... But it was all in my 328. If the tii is not ready for this w/e, i will do a lapping day with it in early sept.

Fluid flushed in may. Pads 2 years old with minimal use (3k). Bmw requires an inspection including fluid flush 30 days before the track weekend. I have some oem bmw dot4 ready as per cd's advice and new stainless brake lines from blunt.

I use a bell sport mag.

LOL....we were reminded of this the hard way....if you look at my last track video there is a passenger in the right seat listening to ZZTop.  on track...passenger gone.....that would have been jim.  right before going on track we got called out.  we both spaced on the shorts rule.

you have a busy weekend coming up with prep work GS!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
