Fuel Pump Help

Dirka

Recommended Posts

Hi, i just cant get my head wrapped around to the problem I am having. My electrical pump wont turn on when i turn the ignition key. I connected pump directly to battery and it works, so that opts out that issue. So, i have no clue what to do. Which side does the wire need to connect on the coil. Please help, any suggestion. This is last thing i need to figure out so i can start my car wit its new engine ahhhH!

Uhh, you want ground, and switched power.  This is where voltmeters come in handy.

I wouldn't pull it from the coil- find another switched source,

or use the coil's supply to power a relay.  It's better for the coil to get a good 12v...

What year is your '02?  If you have a 72 or 73, IIRC fuse 11 is the one that powers the electric fuel pump on a tii, so it's the pefect location to power your fuel pump.  On squarelights or six fuse roundies, simply pick a fuse that's live only when the ign is on, and take a tap off that fuse.

The connector off fuse 11 is also present in the wiring loom for non-tii cars. (31 on the wiring diagram). Green and white wire; my recollection is that the connector is under the dash, possibly over by the kick panel, but it should be easy enough to trace the wire from #11.

Mikesmith has it correct--should have mentioned that.  The wire on non-tii's ends in an insulated male plug that dangles from the wiring harness almost directly above the windshield wiper relay, near the hood release handle up under the dash.  I know the wire is there on '74s as tii's were produced that year, but not sure about 75s and 76s...can anyone confirm?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
