For sale is my White 1971 BMW 2002 with Black Interior. This is a very nice 2002 and is in very good condition.

These BMW 2002s have become more and more desirable in the last couple of years. Seems to be on most car enthusiasts "bucket lists". If you are one of these buyers, you don't want to miss out on this one. Paint is in great condition. My recent add on of the front spoiler is slightly chipping but can be easily repainted.

As you will see from my photos, the seats (front and back) are in mint condition. I replaced the carpeting in the car so that is brand new. The dash is in great condition but has a very small hairline crack. Not worth replacing. There is also a small dent in the back above the rear bumper (see pics). The engine runs smooth and is very reliable. Please note that this car is not perfect and is in fact 43 years old!

The underneath of this car is also very nice. There is one small rust spot on the driver side frame that could use a patch panel. It is quite common on these cars I was told.

The following parts have recently been replaced.

  • BMW Carpet Kit
  • Dyno Matted the Floors
  • OEM BMW Floor Mats
  • ProtoTipo Steering Wheel
  • Vintage Auto Sound Radio
  • Bilstein HD Shocks
  • H&R Lowering Springs
  • Restored Fuel Tank
  • New OEM Radiator
  • New thermostat and water pump
  • New Spark plug wires and plugs
  • Tii Distributor
  • New battery relocated to trunk
  • New Trunk Boards
  • New Weber carb and electric fuel pump
  • New Ireland Engineering Ceramic coated header
  • Ireland Engineering Stainless steel exhaust
  • New Panasport Wheels
  • Turbo rear spoiler (attached with 3M adhesive. Not drilled in to trunk)
  • Fully restored gas tank (<1 month ago)
  • Falken tires with less than 500 miles on them

Please email me with any questions.

This little BMW runs, drives and handles great.

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs.

Reason for selling: I am very busy with work and do not have time to enjoy this car.

Year: 1971

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
